Farber Finishes in Semi-Finals at NHRA Pro Mod in Norwalk, Ohio

June 25,2018 (Norwalk, OH) - PETE FARBER RACING had a fantastic finish at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, with a semi-finals appearance in NHRA Pro Mod over the weekend of June 22-24, 2018. To prepare for the race, driver Pete Farber and team headed to US131 Motorsports Park in Michigan, for testing. There, with valuable help from Al Billes and some adjustments to their car’s torque converter, the guys were able to put down numbers they could be proud of. When it was time to unload Farber’s supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ’69 Dodge Daytona for the main event, the team hoped their hard work in testing would carry over into competition. Qualifying began on Friday evening and Farber was able to run an impressive 5.885 at 241.54 mph hit right off the bat to land himself in the number fifteen spot. Rain moved in not long after, and the second round was postponed until the next day. On Saturday, with more wet weather looming, NHRA officials made the call to shorten the Pro Mod schedule from its original four qualifying sessions to just two. Rising to the occasion, Farber ran even quicker and faster on his second hit when he went 5.851 at 243.72 mph and officially qualified fourteenth in the tight twenty-nine car field, less than one-tenth of a second behind the leader in the number one spot. Eliminations began on Sunday morning, and Farber was proud to have made it into the show. Going up against Jose Gonzalez for the first time, Farber had a slight hole shot disadvantage at the tree but quickly made up for it and was able to power past Gonzalez by the 100-foot mark. He took the lead and never trailed, getting the win with a 5.815 at 245.94 mph blast down. As a result of his E1 performance, Farber was awarded lane choice for round two where he was paired with Todd Tutterow and a near-perfect 0.009-second reaction time put Farber out front immediately. He got loose near the top end when a flew line blew and forced him to click it off early, but still held the advantage to the stripe where his 6.065 at 209.88 mph trip earned yet another round win. Excited to have made it through to the semi-finals, Farber once again cut a great light, but the Daytona surprised him with tire shake and he had no choice but to pedal it. Unfortunately, the momentary lapse allowed Jeremy Ray in the other lane to sneak past and snatch the win away from Farber by approximately 37 feet. “Our hot rod is back on track and showing what it’s capable of, and we couldn’t have done it without Al Billes’s help” said Farber. “We’ll be refining our converter program even more between now and the U.S. Nationals.” For those who were unable to attend the race, coverage will air on July 12th at 10:30 PM on the FS2 channel. Farber’s next race with his supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ’69 Dodge Daytona will be the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals August 29-September 3, 2018, at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana.
